I have pretty much determined that I am not good at sticking to a plan-of-action and I have wondered why. For me it seems that I have great intentions and I do make progress, but I am very easily derailed. Set backs in areas of my life that are not even related to the goal I am working on can derail it. This is something I need to work MUCH harder at being better at.

All that said, I have been working with Joel Boggess, a personal career coach. In the process I have learned a lot, mainly about myself. It has helped me refine who I am and what I want to do (this is not good news for my current employer, which for now will remain unnamed). One the the tasks we are suppose to do is to determine goals in seven areas of our life. The goals need to fit the following parameters.
S - They must be Specific
M - The must be Measurable
A - The must be Actiion-oriented
R - They must be Realistic
T - The must be Time-bound
The chart to the right show these seven areas in a diagram. All the areas of life must be in balance, like a wheel, if we want a smooth ride in life. In my case, this wheel is very out of balance. I am going to be working on refining my goals this week as part of my coaching.
